The French land systems company Nexter has signed an agreement with Senegal for the supply of eight LG 105 guns and 105 mm ammunition that came into force on April 20, and that the company has now announced.
The company recalls in a statement about the new sale that the 105’LG is a 105 mm towed artillery gun “recognized for its reliability and its unparalleled lightness (1,650 kg)”. It is a weapon designed to be transported “by any type of vehicle, plane, helicopter, and even parachute”, so that “an ideal mobility is guaranteed for troops operating in extreme climates and difficult terrain”.
The Senegalese army, the source adds, has chosen this artillery piece “because it responds perfectly to the demands of modern combat: thanks to its lightness and its unparalleled cadence of fire.” The manufacturer specifies that it can be put into battery in less than 30 seconds by a crew of five gunners and fire a dozen projectiles per minute to beat targets at a maximum of 17 kilometers, in the case of using the Extended Range ammunition ERG 3 of 105 mm of the Nexter Arrowtech brand.
