Dassault Aviation last March submitted an offer to Serbia for the sale of a dozen Rafale fighter jets. The result of last Sunday’s elections in the Balkan country, in which President Aleksandar Vucic was re-elected, paves the way for this sale that initially contemplated only six units.

According to the French weekly La Tribune, the manufacturer is waiting for the response of the country’s authorities after presenting last month an offer that initially referred to six aircraft and finally speaks of 12.

Serbia intends to modernize its fleet of Soviet-origin MiG-21 and MiG-29 aircraft, in addition to the Soviet-origin Soko J-22 Orao and Soko G-4 Super Galeb aircraft.
