Serbia; Sales of € 800 millions of ammo to Ukraine during 2022-2023.

Serbia is increasing its sales of ammunition to the West, which then transit through third countries to Ukraine. The amount of ammunition Kiev has received from Belgrade amounts to approximately 800 million euros. The value of ammunition exported by Serbia and entering Ukraine through third parties since the beginning of the large-scale invasion is approximately 800 million euros. This figure was confirmed by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.

Vucic presented the arms export situation as a business opportunity, insisting that he would not take sides in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The Serbian leader stated that this was part of their economic recovery and emphasized its importance. He mentioned that even though they export ammunition, they cannot export to Ukraine or Russia. However, they have secured many contracts with the Americans, Spaniards, Czechs, and others.

He emphasized that even though he knew where the sold ammunition ended up, it was not his concern. Vucic stated that his job is to ensure that they handle their ammunition legally and sell it appropriately. He highlighted his responsibility to take care of his people and noted that Serbia “has friends in Kiev and Moscow.”

When asked if the 800 million euros in exports was correct, he replied that it was not for one year, but “maybe for two or three years.”

According to the president, Serbian arms are cheaper than Western ones, which could lead to an increase in Serbia’s ammunition exports.
