Singapore’s Ministry of Defense has announced that it will complete the fleet of a dozen F-35B fifth-generation fighter jets it has been working on for three years, since the US State Department authorized the operation, estimated at $2020.2 billion in January 750. The minister, Dr. Ng Eng Hen, has announced the acquisition of a batch of eight more devices, in addition to the four previously acquired that have allowed the country to obtain “valuable information” for this definitive purchase. Following the assessment of the initial units, he added, “the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF) have concluded that the F-35 is the best choice to meet our defence needs now and in the future.

The aircraft of the US firm Lockheed Martin will replace the F-16 with which Singapore has been operating since 1998, and which from the mid-2030s will be considered an obsolete model. The new F-35 aircraft are expected to join the country’s fleet later this decade.
