In December 2018, Slovenia had signed an Intergovernmental Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LOA) with the U.S. Government for the purchase of 38 Oshkosh Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV). The value of the contract for the purchase of 38 JLTV vehicles, taking into account administrative costs, tools, spare parts and training.
The JLTV is a light armored vehicle in the category of MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) fully developed and designed by the American company Oshkosh Defense based on the L-ATV (Light Combat All-Terrain) vehicle but with more protection and mobility.
The JLTV for the Slovenian army will be fitted with a Kongsberg Protector Remote Weapon Station armed with one 12.7mm machine and optionally, the turret can be armed with a single launcher for the Israeli-made Spike LR anti-tank guided missile. In December 2020, Slovenian armed forces have completed a successful firing of Rafael’s Spike LR missiles from a JLTV vehicle.
