In the framework of its 50th anniversary, the Air Service of the Civil Guard (Saer) has announced a modernization of its fleet with new drones. He has done so in an itinerant exhibition in Gijón attended by the Government delegate in Asturias, Delia Losa; the president of the General Assembly of the Principality, Juan Cofiño; and various authorities of the Armed Forces and the National Police.
According to La Voz de Asturias, Lieutenant Javier González reported the importance of “updating” the air service with the incorporation of new technologies. In that sense, he explained that drones will not replace helicopters, but will be a complement in missions where the scenario is “small”, such as fires of low magnitude or in searches in very localized areas of cliffs.
In addition, the Saer is responsible for the management of more than 350 drones of the Civil Guard. This year began the own training of pilots of light drones in the special training center, in collaboration with the State Aviation Safety Agency (AESA).
