The DTI7 small arms research and development project developed in collaboration between the Defense Technology Institute of Thailand and Thai KHT Firearms company is part of the efforts to support the Thai domestic security industry.
The DTI7 is a short-stroke gas piston powered assault rifle with a separate piston and pushrod and a trifold frame. The short 7-inch barrel makes the DTI7 a Personal Defense Weapon (PDW). The DTI7 can be used as a self-defense weapon for personnel of non-direct combat personnel, such as vehicle crew, artilleryman, medical doctor or medic, and any other personnel involved in close combat during special operations.
