Barrels for Leopard 2 tanks, the ATMOS artillery system, and the CARDOM mortar will be procured for 230 million Danish kroner ($34 million), financed through the acceleration fund.
Delivery will take place over the next few years.
Based on Ukraine Experience
The procurement is based on insights gleaned through Ukraine’s artillery experiences in its war with Russia, wherein intensive gun usage led to worn out barrels, compromising artillery accuracy.
“The experience from the very intensive battle in Ukraine shows the importance of operational endurance,” Commander of the Danish Army Major General Peter Boysen said.
“That endurance is defined, among other things, by the robustness of the Armed Forces’ stocks of critical spare parts.”
