According to lepoint.fr, French president Emmanuel Macron had promised this additional shipment of CAESAR howitzers on June 16, during his visit to the Ukrainian capital. These six additional CAESAR howitzers are “en route” to Ukraine, said Tuesday the head of French diplomacy Catherine Colonna without mentioning a delivery date.
”France will deliver six additional Caesar long-range self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine to help it counter the Russian invasion”, President Emmanuel Macron said on June 16 while visiting Kyiv: “On top of the 12 Caesars already delivered, I took the decision (to deliver) in the coming weeks six additional Caesars,” Macron said at the end of a press conference alongside Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, and Romanian leader Klaus Iohannis.
According to information published by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on May 28, 2022, the CAESAR 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers donated by France had already demonstrated their effectiveness and were used by Ukrainian soldiers to destroy Russian tanks, BMD airborne infantry fighting vehicles, and trucks.
Since the beginning of the military offensive launched by Moscow in Ukraine on February 24, Paris has delivered to Kyiv, on top of CAESAR howitzers, MILAN anti-tank missiles and Mistral anti-aircraft missiles.
