According to information published on Social Network on October 12, 2022, it was reported that France will provide three LRU (Lance Roquette Unitaire – Unitary Launch Rocket) to Ukraine. The LRU is the French version of the American M270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) in service with the French army.
Following the recent attacks of the Russian armed forces with missiles and drones against main cities in Ukraine, France has taken the decision to strengthen its military aid to Ukraine.
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, France has already delivered to Ukraine 18 CAESAR 155mm wheeled self-propelled howitzers, a few dozen of MILAN portable anti-tank guided missile weapon systems, and fifteen of 155mm towed howitzers TRF1. France has also delivered to Ukraine VAB armored vehicles, Mistral MANPADS (Man Portable Air Defense Missile Systems) as well as individual soldier equipment, helmets, bullet-proof vests, night vision binoculars, combat rations, protective clothing for nuclear, bacteriological and chemical risk environments, medical equipment), small caliber ammunition and fuel.
The LRU (Lance Roquette Unitaire – Unitary Launch Rocket) is the American-made M270 MLRS (Multiple Rocket Launcher System) in service with the French Army. The vehicle is based on the tracked chassis of the Bradley IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle). The LRU has a crew of three including a commander, gunner, and driver.
