Ukraine; Germany to supply new shipment of weapons

Germany announced on Thursday, March 29, 2024, a new delivery to Ukraine of ammunition for different types of armaments, armored vehicles, and others, while it plans to expand its arsenal with U.S. Patriot anti-missile systems, according to the capital’s television. this decision is made in echoes of criticism of slow military support from EU countries to Ukraine.

Germany announced a new military aid package to Kyiv, including 18,000 units of 155-millimeter artillery ammunition, Leopard 2A6 tanks, and 14 all-terrain vehicles. The delivery will also feature 14 Vector surveillance drones, 30 RQ-35 Heidrun unmanned reconnaissance units, and five systems for anti-drone defenses.

The RQ-35, manufactured by Sky Hawk, is a drone uniquely developed to meet the specific requirements of Ukrainian forces and to adapt to the terrain’s characteristics. It is designed to provide video and electronic intelligence from up to 30 kilometers away, while flying at very low altitudes.

Furthermore, the German government is set to provide Kyiv with 180 RF 360 systems for drone detection, more than 2,000 RGW 90 Matador anti-tank weapons, already used by Ukraine since June 2022, 70 GMW anti-tank grenade launchers, and 40,000 units of 40-millimeter ammunition, among other military supplies.
