Spanish Defense Minister Robles says that the cars stored in a base in Zaragoza are “in a regrettable situation”
Spain will not eventually send Leopard 2A4 tanks to Ukraine. The Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles, reported on Tuesday that the department she directs has ruled out the delivery to the Kiev authorities of part of the cars stored at the Base of Casetas, near Zaragoza, after verifying the “regrettable” state in which these vehicles are.
The Minister of Defense said that these cars have been in disuse for many years and are very deteriorated, during a visit to the Aeroevacuation Medical Unit (Umaer) at the Torrejón de Ardoz air base (Madrid).
Robles explained that “we are seeing all the possibilities today, but I can already tell you that the Leopards that have not been used in Zaragoza for many years is not possible (to send them to Ukraine) because they are in an absolutely regrettable situation,” says Servimedia. And he insisted: “There have been the corresponding exams and they are in conditions that cannot be used. We can’t give them because they would be a risk to people.”
