Ukraine; Sweden rushes 5,000 more AT-4 ATRL to the Ukrainian army

According to information published by the “Hallands Nyheter” website on March 23, 2022, the Swedish Ministry of Defense Peter Hultqvist has announced the delivery of a second batch of 5,000 AT4 anti-tank weapons to Ukraine.

In February 202, Army Recognition reported that Sweden had approved the delivery of 5,000 anti-tank weapons. Citing a Tweet from Hugo Kaaman, the anti-tank weapons that will be delivered to Ukraine by Sweden would be AT4.

The spearhead of Russian troops on the Ukrainian territory are motorized troops and mechanized infantry equipped with tanks ad IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicles) tracked armored. To counter these threats, the Ukrainian army needs more anti-tank weapons. These weapons have already shown their effectiveness against Russian tanks and armored vehicles with several videos posted on social networks showing armored vehicles destroyed with Javelin, NLAW missiles which were provided by European countries and the United States.

The AT4 is an 84 mm unguided, man-portable, single-shot, disposable, recoilless smoothbore anti-tank weapon developed and manufactured by the Swedish company Saab. The weapon is designed to give infantry units a means to destroy light armored vehicles and fortifications.
