General Dynamics Land Systems has been awarded a $1,219,170,958 hybrid contract to produce, test and deliver Interim Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense (IM-SHORAD) systems.
Work locations and funding will be determined with each order, with an estimated completion date of Sept. 30, 2025. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity, a Pentagon contract announcement said
The IM-SHORAD system is based around General Dynamics Land Systems’ Stryker combat vehicle, Leonardo DRS mission equipment package and Raytheon’s Stinger vehicle missile launcher.
The IM-SHORAD is an Air Defense Artillery capability which moves and maneuvers in direct support of Brigade Combat Teams (BCT) to destroy, neutralize or deter low altitude aerial threats, including Group 3 UAS, rotary wing and fixed wing aircraft. With Leonardo DRS’ IM-SHORAD Mission Equipment Package (MEP) on a purpose-built Stryker, Warfighters maneuver with tactical units to detect, identify, track and defeat air threats.
