US; Army orders ‘Trophy’ APS to protect M1 Abrams tanks

The American company General Dynamics has been awarded a contract of just over 280 million euros to provide Trophy active protective equipment (APS) for Abrams tanks.

Rafael : TROPHY™ Active Protection System

The Trophy system, developed by Israeli companies Rafael and IAI, is a kit capable of quickly detecting, classifying and neutralizing threats ranging from recoilless rifles, to anti-tank guided missiles, rockets, tank fire and rocket-propelled grenades. The system detects these threats and even locates the launch position to facilitate a faster response.

The new equipment will be installed on an unspecified number of U.S. Army Abrams tanks of the M1A2 SEPv2 and M1A2 SEPv3 versions in a period of work that is expected to last until mid-2027.
